Plainville Community Schools' Reading Partners Program

“The grants received from the Elizabeth H. Norton Trust have been for Camperships for our summer Camp Trumbull. Camp Trumbull is a day camp for students with developmental disabilities that has been running for over 30 years. Campers are provided opportunities for recreation, field trips, in house programs, themed weeks, crafts, education, and so much more throughout the summer. Our Camp Director is a special education professional who feels strongly about providing safe, fun, and beneficial experiences for members of our population. As PARC is a non-profit and is committed to serving all who need our services, we never want to turn anyone away due to inability to pay. The funding received from the Norton Trust ensures that families who may not be able to afford the camp tuition comfortably are still able to have their camper attend and enjoy our productive, fun, and educational summer camp!”

"The support we have received from the Elizabeth H. Norton Trust Fund has made such a meaningful difference for our students. Because of these grants, we have expanded our Reading Partners program, provided books for students, and strengthened and upleveled our mentor program. More importantly, the funding has allowed us the ability to create new meaningful experiences for students across the district, experiences that build relationships, spark curiosity, and help students feel supported and connected. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities this support has made possible for our students."
